This week each kid had an assessment activity. Most of them did well and we are happy about their progress. We already have couple of kids who have already started Consonants. All the kids are able to identify the Vowel sounds.
Then we all learnt the Days of the week. Please have them practice 7 days of the week, today, yesterday, tomorrow in Tamil. They will have quiz/ activity on it in the next class.
Each kid took home a printout of various action pictures. Kids will have to make a small sentence about each picture and say it in the next class. All kids who had notebooks with them have the weekdays printout, pasted in their notebook. I have attached them here too .
This week we started the Star chart for the class. Every week, the class will receive a star based on their class performance (paying attention, using listening ears, follow instructions, Not disturbing the class or neighboring kids while teaching in progress). If the class reaches 10 stars , We will have a cupcake party on our last class (6/14/15).We sadly did not gain it on our beginning week.
Next class we will start consonants letters. All kids will learn to identify and say the consonant sounds. All kids who have mastered Vowel writing will start writing Consonants. If we have time, we will be working on more Days and time related words.
Starting next week, not all kids will get a gift from the treasure box. We will have Tamil speaking challenge in the class. Every class we will pick 2 Stars of that week.
- Good listener (Pays attention , being good listener, follow directions properly)
- Tamil Speaker (kid who tries his/her best in class to communicate in Tamil)
Important Dates:
5/31/15 - Writing test - Vowels and Consonants
6/7/15 - Oral Test - Open topic. Each kid will have to speak completely in Tamil on any topics for 2 minutes.
These two tests will be their final assessments. Good luck with preparation to all the kids
